A private session of Kama Kat Yoga is similar to a personal training session, in that I give all my attention to you while leading you through an exercise routine.

Each session consists of alignment-based yoga poses, breathing exercises, and mindfulness techniques. Typically, I will model a pose for you, and then assist you with moving into the pose yourself. I make sure to explain the anatomy and philosophy behind our practice, so that you have a complete understanding of why we do what we do.

What do private sessions help with?

Most of my clients use our private sessions for learning how to increase their general physical health, and to reduce stress.

Each session is individually tailored to your body, your ability, your goals, and your schedule. I have a wide rage of foundational poses that I like to teach during sessions, but am always working in the present moment to select which poses are best for you.

For example, if we are practicing a pose for opening the hamstrings, but you feel the stretch primarily in your calves, I will then instruct a calf opening exercise because your feedback shows that your calves are very tight! This also helps us to better understand the interconnected nature of muscles.

I have extensive experience with modifying more traditional poses, and promise that I can offer an exhilarating yoga experience to any body.

Can you have a private session if you've never done yoga before or aren't really flexible?

Absolutely! I specialize in teaching yoga to 'people who don't yoga'. In our private sessions, I will make sure to explain the anatomy and logic behind our practice in very simple terms. And we always have a lot of fun!

Where do you teach?

I teach out of a private yoga studio. In Minneapolis, I teach out of a yoga studio in the Uptown area. In New York City, I teach out of a yoga studio in the Flatiron area.

I am happy to teach my clients in-home, though I usually require the first session to take place in my studio. For clients who live in a building with your own fitness and yoga areas, I will forgo the requirement to have our first meeting in my studio.

Additionally, I have limited online sessions available via Zoom. Please contact me for more information on online training sessions.

What should I wear?

Please wear clothing that is comfortable for moving into the postures—whatever you would usually wear for exercise.

What are the other logistics?

I will always have a mat and props available for you, but you can bring your own if you prefer.

Each session is one hour in length. After each session, I will email you a recap of the exercises from our session, so that you can practice at home.

The rate for a one-hour session is $120.
